Popular Post GavLew79 Posted January 20, 2019 Popular Post Posted January 20, 2019 Channeling Sir Winston this weekend. Drank Pol Roger while it was still daylight, although not from a pint tankard, and neither did I have a whisky and soda 'eye opener'...more's the shame. I paired this with a Brewdog Zeitgeist Black Lager, and some Penderyn malt. (the whisky is shit, but it's Welsh, so I have to drink it). And the cigar...what else could it be? I never get "cherry" from RyJ, but what I do get is woody (cedar), nutty, leathery notes with a very subtle sweetness in the first third, and rather the sour notes are more of a sourdough for me. Mid-bodied, but finishing full, this cigar is always a tactile delight. I love the size and just rolling it around feels great. The flavours were good, and the strength built in a linear fashion, but unfortunately its youth (LEP MAY 17) showed in the final third, with that "chemically", soured-coconut(?) coming to the fore. A sound 88-90-pointer, but as I'll only smoke a few of these a year, hopefully we'll see better in years to come! 4 1

You hear about the cherry profile a lot. I guess it's an individual palate thing. Or just the luck of the draw... in any case, nice review... great stuff! 1
mrmessy Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I've only gotten a couple of wafts of cherry on a young short Churchill. Otherwise it's been an elusive flavor for me. Maybe with more age... Either myself or the cigar. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk 2
