Certainly not the most special cigar in the world but the first one I’ve ever had, so special enough to me. Plus, I only have about 45 minutes to kill before soccer games and kids activities start so this is where I turned. Good looking little cigar with a few years on it. My first real crush with CC’s was the Monte 4 so excited to try this one and hoping for a lot of the same characteristics. 

First Half - Felt tight on the first draw. After lighting I really got concerned as the draw was very tight with very little smoke. Hoping it opens up as I’d hate to have to toss my first try with this cigar. Despite the tight draw, it was pleasant and smooth. Light cream coffee flavor. After the first half inch or so, the draw opened right up and the smoke volume increased substantially. I’m still relatively new to the wonderful world of cigars so my palate isn’t the most refined but getting better. I’m also just starting to experiment with the retrohale as well. After my first couple attempts I picked up a nice burnt sugar flavor (think top layer of crème brûlée) which I’ve never gotten from a cigar before. Burn at this point is perfect. 

Second Half - Hello cocoa!  I love this about Monte’s. It was one of my favorite aspects of the Monte 4 and it’s abundent in this little guy as well. The retrohale has changed to more of a cooking chocolate flavor. Overall, the flavors are hitting the spot for me. The cigar started getting a little hot in the last inch so I decided to lay it down and move on with my day. I got about 30 minutes out of it which was perfect for this morning and gave me exactly what I was looking for. Solid 88 point short cigar and perfect for a laidback Sunday morning.

Great review especially for being pretty new to the wonderful world of cigars. Have a box from May 2016 still resting after shipping. Have heard mix reviews on these, but the good reviews are really good. I think the high release price tag put a sour taste in many a mouths. Now that the price has dropped considerable seems like people are enjoying them more. These will make a perfect companion to my HUHC when I want something with a lil more flavor.
