The wife and I are headed to Cincinnati Friday for a long weekend. Was curious if there were any cool places to check out while we were there (Cigar related or not.)

The museums in the old grand central train station are cool if you’re in to Art Deco

The newport aquarium is fun for a couple hrs as is the Newport riverfront

The architecture downtown is worth a walk around to see, especially the Cinci riverfront at night. Also fun to walk across the river on one of the old bridges

Yelp for restaurants and it’s hard to go wrong

Skyline is an acquired taste. “Cincinnati Chili” has cinnamon as a secret ingredient which is weird to some. Still a local fave. Cheap chili dumped on over-cooked spaghetti with a mound of cheddar cheese and oyster crackers is still something to at least do once if you’ve never experienced it. I use plenty of hot sauce and add onions.

The capitol grille is a good steakhouse (Cinci has more than a handful of good high-end steakhouse)

Heres a few photos taken on one of my recent visits (I live an hour away)

Enjoy your stay!

Cross the river into Bellview, KY.  Go to The Party Source.  It is a mega liquor store that has many hard to find items.  Prices are very good too.

....but only if you like to party.

The Precinct is my all-time favorite steakhouse and this ain’t my first rodeo. It occupies an old police station. Patio is cigar friendly and weather should be decent this weekend. Reservations recommended but the upstairs bar area is first come-first serve (fills up quickly).

Findlay Market is a great little farmers market. Location is a bit annoying as you have to drive through sketchy area to get there but I’m there weekly and have never had any sort of issue. I recommend avoiding Saturdays if you have to park. Three highlights from the market in no particular order: Vietnamese place for pho and bahn mi sandwiches, Greek place for gyros and the Asian place for goetta egg rolls.

Over-the-Rhine is the hip, trendy eating, drinking area. Highlights to me in no particular order: The Eagle, Bakersfield and Senate.

I don’t do much outside of eating, drinking, smoking and parenting. My Dad enjoyed The Underground Railroad museum but I haven’t been personally. I’ve lived in LA, Chicago and Nashville... The Precinct is LEGIT!
