Djames928 Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Hello, I am new to FoH and wanted to take the time to introduce myself. I have been smoking nc for a couple of years now and my hobby really picked up with both nc an cc in february. I started out with a 25ct humi and now have 2 25 ct, a 150ct as well as a new air 280 wineador . I am still waiting on the shelves to come in from wineadors.com. After the shelves get seasoned will be working on converting my oasis to using rh beads rather than foam to avoid potential mold. I was referred here by a BOTL I befriended in a Facebook cigar group who had nothing but wonderful things to say about FoH. As far as work I come from a background of business to business sales. Went to school at West Virginia University for business. I currently work as a nurse recruiter helping nurses get jobs around the country. I look forward to meeting some great BOTL and SOTL here. Hope everyone is having a great morning! -Djames928

Djames928 Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 Hahaha I know. It's dangerous. I'm already looking into another wine cooler to convert and I haven't even gotten my shelves yet.

BarryNY Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Hi. Welcome from another Noob. Regarding using the active humidification ie: Oasis... I have the NewAir 281 model with 2 Spanish cedar shelves (the cheap kind) recently seasoned set up in my basement.. These coolers are smaller than you think...hint...hint.... Anyway...I'm using passive humidification with 65% HF beads and my 281 is pretty much filled with 7 boxes (of 10) and 24 loose sticks - taking up most of the available space. However those NC boxes will get dumped quick for less sophisticated accommodations when my 4 boxes of CC arrive in about 2 weeks I have 3 remote wireless temp/RH% hydrometers that have been calibrated to a control and are all within 1% RH of eachother. The NewAir is set to 65 degrees and the ambient is around 72 degrees with about 50% RH. Even with just about 1 pound of the 65% HF beads (and only about 25% activated) I'm having a hard time getting the RH% down to under 68%. Next move tomorrow is to remove the beads entirely. So, I'm surely NO EXPERT and there are resident experts among this forum...but if I was you I would strongly consider not using the active system - it may cause you more pain than gain. But please keep us posted on how your system moves along. Good luck. 1
