davidl Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Hey Guys, I know the Canadian cigar smoking laws are pretty strict....I have a trip coming up to London, Ontario. Can anyone recommend any places to smoke? Thanks
Squarehead Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I don't know of any lounges in London but I know one in Burlington, about 120km east of London.Check on the internet for Village Cigar. When are you coming and how long are you staying?I live about 100km east of London. 2
EZTRGT Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I hate to say it, but there is no such thing as a legal cigar lounge in the province of Ontario. There may be a few underground ones but smoking is banned in all public places. Including some outdoor areas like pub patios and parks. You can smoke on the sidewalk if you like.....but you have to leave your scotch inside. Sorry to have rained on your parade. I feel your pain! Cheers, EZTRGT Kyle

I was under the assumption that you are simply not allowed to smoke within 20 metres of any park facilities such as washrooms sports fields and children s play areas.

davidl Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 I arrive later this month, just for a few days. I take it i wont be doing that much smoking...:-) Oh well...thanks for the info guys.
EZTRGT Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Hey Guys, Here's the wording from the govs website. smoke on and around childrens playgrounds and publicly owned sport fields and surfaces (e.g., areas for basketball, baseball, soccer or beach volleyball, ice rinks, tennis courts, splash pads and swimming pools that are owned by a municipality, the province or a postsecondary education institution)smoke on all bar and restaurant patios, whether covered or not (with an exemption for uncovered patios established by the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Provincial Command before November 18, 2013) On one hand, cigars are legal providing you pay the insane taxes, while on the other, there's very few legal places to enjoy one. It's case case of the government having their cake and eating it too. Cheers, EZTRGT Kyle
EZTRGT Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 To be dead honest, most of us either hibernate in sheds, garages, cars or the extremely rare BOTL'S place where indoor smoking is permitted during the winter. And until recently we would congregate at local watering holes with outdoor patios in the warmer weather. Sadly, the only legal place left in the province to have a cigar in one hand and an alcoholic beverage in the other is ones own home. Sad but a reality. Cheers, EZTRGT Kyle
