Actually, the most interesting question regarding international trades hasn't been asked, probably since it could be against the forum rules to discuss it... Is a parcel considered lost when it would be expensive to retrieve it...

Jean, If not 'retrieved', would it not be sent back to the sender? I have no experience with that scenario either.

I have been on both ends of such issues and In my experience, these unretrieved packages don't seem to crawl back home... Botls with more experience can chime in with their own opinions...

This scenario requires reasonable attitudes and trust between two BOTLs.

I have traded once and it was very successful. From my initail contact with the person, I could see that they were fair and reasonable.

Shipping baseball cards to many countries incurrs taxes. This is to appease groups that cannot tolerate baseball cards. I offered to label the BCs as "History Books" to which the recipient was grateful for. What would we have done had they gone missing? Not much I suspect. I made sure the item was tracked.

Trust and be prepared to take the odd hit. That's life. Man up and pay I say.

Are you referring to customs and import taxes/duties? If it's held by customs then it's not lost at all.
