TypicalSituation Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Smoked at 68/61 Prelight : Firm cigar, no soft spots. Punched with my xikar. Draw feels perfect. Notes of crushed almonds, a bit of raw white american oak, and some baking spice (Nutmeg maybe?) First third pretty much mirrors the prelight draw. Crushed almonds, a powdery cedar note, and a very subtle hint of baking spices. Second third picks up the intensity a bit. The cedar note turns to this harsher tannic note reminiscent of white american oak sawdust. A hint of cinnamon and black peppercorn pops with a retrohale. The crushed almonds are still delivering. The last third disappoints. No other way to say it. The dusty American Oak note has overwhelmed everything else. Kind of reminds me of eating sawdust. The spices have disappeared. I continued with a few more puffs, but all that managed to do was coax out some bitterness. I let it die shortly after this pic. Overall, I was disappointed. The first one from box about a month ago was stellar, so I was anticipating another amazing smoke. Sadly, this one didn't deliver. 81/100
