I just bought a new Sarome lighter and can't get fuel into it without it leaking all over the place. I'm using Colibri fuel with just what's on the can for a nozzle.

Do I need an adapter nozzle?

The fill port of the lighter looks like it's a smaller dia. than any other lighter I have.

One thing that has me wondering is the literature that came with the lighter talks about: " Please note that the inlet valve of almost (most?) Sarome lighters is equipped with exhaust system for efficient refilling under low temperature, thus butane spray-back will occour when gas tank is full. Do not overfill"

Mine is leaking immediately when I fuel it even if I purge /bleed it before filling but I can't help wonder if this venting system is what I'm seeing. I really like the lighter but I'm not going to be happy if it's an issue to fuel it every time.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Bump. Just picked up a Sarome Vintage lighter from an antique market. Just put a flint in and its sparking great. Tried putting butane in but immediately it rushed back out...want to see if anyone has any suggestions or had similar experience?

I had two sarome lighters, SD-1s and i used a standard butane tank with no adapter.

Have you tried usig the various adapters in the lid of the butane if it has any?

Hmm..i had a guy at a bnm try with regular butane but as soon as he attempted to fill the lighter, the butane just leaked out really fast and continued to hiss for a bit. Haven't had the chance yet to try with different adapters though. I put a flint in and it sparks so i'm halfway there lol. I'm hoping its parts aren't too worn bc of age (though i don't know how old it is), as i read somewhere these are prone to develop leaking proems over time. Can anyone tell btw if i'm missing any parts at the bottom where i would apply the butane nozzle?
