Import Duty in Canada

I hope this question int out of line but i was hoping some of our Canadian members could answer this question for me

How does ordering cigars for FoH work if you are living in Canada in regards to paying import duty?

In Aus, if we order from O/S and they are intercepted by customs we are sent a bill for import duty in the mail that must be paid before the cigars are on forward to the address

Is that how it works over there?

I've got a friend who's moving over next year ad he's curious how he will go with ordering from the LFTW and *****AS
