WillGSX Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Your thread finally got me to pull the trigger on starting a wineador. I went with a VT-28TEDS (Vinotemp) I ordered it from HayNeedle. It is set to be delivered on Thursday. I didn't waste much time, on Saturday I ordered a couple of CPU fans from Amazon and thanks to my Amazon Prime membership those will be delivered today. Even though I don't have my wine cooler yet I am going to put together the fans tonight (cross your fingers). On my way home from work yesterday I managed to stop at RadioShack and pick up a couple of boxes of the same standoffs you used here. Im not entirely sure I am going to need both fans, but I'll see when they get here. I'll try and post a couple of photos of the finished result. I'm not entirely sure what I am going to mount them to since I do not have a PSD4 box. Awesome! By no means does it have to be a PSD4 box though lol. Any empty box will work, and I thought it would be a bit more fitting than just drilling through a piece of 2-by or plywood. A lot of wasted space under the false bottom drawer anyways so I had no qualms about using a box. A key thing is mounting to anything taller than a 10's box (approx 2" high) will cause trouble...at least in the NewAir 280E, not sure how much room yours will have. Let me know if you have any questions about it!
rook Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 So last night I got to work on the fan. Since the fan is a larger fan I figured I would only need to use one rather than both. I've used the Montecristo No. 3 box which is basically the perfect size for the single fan. I am checking on the height issue you brought up, I never really thought about it. I've decided to use the proper cords to power the fan rather than splicing, all the cables cost only about $15 all together, so I didn't mind taking that route. I went with the Corsair Air Series SP120 Quite Edition CPU fan. I still need to stop at HomeDepot on my way home today and grab some longer screws because the screws that came with the fan were tiny. But heres what it looks like at the moment.
rook Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I stopped by HomeDepot on my way home and they had nothing close to what I needed in regard to the screws. Anyone have any ideas?

Check back with RadioShack. They had some variety baggies in their hardware drawers. Just kinda eyeball the thread pattern vs the screws that come in the standoff kit. Like was said, I think the thread patterns are all pretty standardized for PCB stuff.
