cottierm Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 One of my friends is going to Cayo Coco at the end of February and wants to buy some cigars for his father. Now I can see that there is a LCDH there, located in the Hotel Blau Colonial. Is there anyone among you who has recently been in this shop and could tell me something about available stock and conditions of storage? Thanks in advance for your input. Michel
Mtlpadron Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 There is another LCDH in Cayo Coco, in the lobby of Melia Cayo Guilermo. The selection was decent they had most pf the regular production sticks and a few LEs and such but that was over a year ago. The staff was helpfull and I even got a bunch of free posters and size charts. I'd just buy my boxes from the humidor not from the shelves.
cottierm Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 Thanks for the info Mtlpadron. I know the shop you are talking about because I visited it myself two years ago. But it is located on Cayo Guillermo which is the small reclaimed island to the west of Cayo Coco. My friend will probably not go there if he can access the LCDH on the Cayo Coco island. And so I am still looking for information. Anyone...? Best, Michel
BrotherBear Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Hi Michel, I was there almost 2 years ago. Ask your friend to have them open the boxes he buys to check for mold. I had an issue wioth mold there... Nice LCHD otherwise.
Pilsner14 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I had my folks just return from Cayo Santa Maria. The 2 10 count boxes of D4's had serious mold......one box a throw away. They did pick up a 25'r of Upmann LEs and WOW...........talk about rich, perfect looking cigars. Tough to have the mules do everything correct when bringing back cigars. No facturas given and no passport needed even on insistence. Canadian taken right at LDCH. Def look over the cigars......the only instruction not give to the mules! DOH! JD
cottierm Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 Thanks for your input Marc and Pilsner14, I appreciate that. Best, Michel
Balboa Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 i was there 6 years ago. The manager Tanya was very knowledgeable and helpful. No problems with mold luckily, they had a nice selection of aged cigars.
cottierm Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Thanks for the info Balboa. Best, Michel
Guest Robo Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 My friend is visiting Cayo Guillermo soon and has kindly offered to get me some smokes. Does anyone have more information on the Hotel Melia LCDH in Cayo Guillermo? Any idea on recent stock, like if they have LGC MdO2, or any Trinidad, or RE/LE? Any information would be greatly apprciated. Thx, Rob
