Orion21 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Alright Vegasophiles, I am arriving on Friday and leaving on Monday. What should I hit up other than Rhumbar and Casa Fuente? Must be cigar friendly!!!! I have found one place called Andre's Cigar and Cognac Lounge. Has anyone been? Opinions?
brazoseagle Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112272&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 Some great ideas in this thread, including my lengthy post, copy and pasted below: These are always on my "Must Do" lists when in Vegas: *****Hofbrau Haus - You have to at least go have a lunch and a beer here!!!! My favorite beer! My favorite place in Vegas. http://www.hofbrauhauslasvegas.com/ Here is my Vegas Travel Guide that I provide when my friends ask: You are close enough.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Where to Stay and Play and Smoke Cigars : Wynn/Encore 1st choice "Must" Steakhouse: SW Switch Steakhouse at the Wynn/Encore-the walls change while you eat. Unique nostalgic must experience: Hugo's Cellar at the Four Queen's in old downtown - Freemont st. Always wins most romantic. One place to eat before you die, "last meal" choice Joel Robuchon's at MGM Italian Choice: No Brainer- Rao's at Ceasers, the same historic Rao's from NY where you can't get reservations. Seafood Choice: RM Seafood at Mandalay. Lunch Choice: Hoffbrau Haus - by Hard Rock. Biergarten and German food, (happens to also be my favorite beer in the world) Also at Wynn/Encore that get very high referral: Wing Lei, Botero, Bartollota, Okada. Best Buffet: Wynn then Belagio Honorable Mention for Steak: Craftsteak & N9NE
SMQQKIN Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Orion, The attached thread and David's advice will give you pretty much all you need for smoking and eating in Vegas. The toughest question for this weekend is - Where are you going to watch the game? It is a HUGE weekend for Vegas and if you are not a high roller you can find yourself standing for the entire game in a book, being knocked into by others and fighting for drinks. It can be miserable. Last time we placed our bets and went to Casa to watch the game. They had some extra flat screens set up and it worked out great.
brazoseagle Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 For watching the game, look no further than Lagasse's Stadium !!!! http://www.palazzo.com/Las-Vegas-Nightlife/Lounges/Lagasses-Stadium/ Also there is a good sports bar at the Hard Rock Also Miller's Ale House is new, but I believe it's a chain out of Florida. In 2011 I was in Orlando for the Super Bowl, and Miller's Ale House did an all you can eat buffet and All you can DRINK for $50 bucks!!
Orion21 Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 We got reservations at Public House at the Luxor. $155 for a table and unlimited food & drinks, per person. Sadly no smoking inside due to the Nevada Clean Air Act, but it should be a fun time. We are going to hit up Craftsteak for dinner one night and have reservations. It's a shame there are so few places to sit and enjoy a cigar outside of the casinos, especially in Vegas. We are going to explore the Andre's Cigar and Cognac Lounge on Friday evening before we gamble. Should be a good time. I have been to Vegas several time for New Years, but this is the first time without the wife. Guys weekend should = cigars, scotch, bourbon, beer, steak . . . repeat.
AlohaStyle Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Wow, you're gonna be in Vegas during the Super Bowl with the guys, spending $155/person to watch the game and NOT be able to smoke a cigar?!? Sounds miserable to me! LOL I like SMQQKIN's idea better... LOL
Orion21 Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 I hear you, but sadly I am the only cigar lover in the group. Everyone else will sit down to smoke and relax with a cigar, but they won't try to tailor their plans to being able to smoke a cigar. I completely understand this and will suffer through the agony and enjoy afterwards.
SurpriseMVP Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Interested to hear what your thoughts are on craft steak after the meal. My wife wants me to take her Feb 16. We are heading up for a concert that weekend and need to justify the $400 meal to myself even though it doesn't matter since she watches Colicchio on television. Might also drive up this Friday and leave early Sunday to get home for the Super Bowl.

tmac77 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Went to Craft last time I was in Vegas. Not my idea as I am not a huge fan of steakhouse restaurants as I find most of them overpriced for the food you get. Besides I can cook up a mean steak myself and I am sure Brazoseagle can knock one out of the park for a fraction of the cost. That being said the food was okay but I would not go there again. Of course I am biased in my opinion and I am sure that many out there would consider the price point reasonable for the meal you get ,just as some may find that certain high priced cigars are worth the extra $$$.
