Beer Coasters

[Overproof]

Just wondering if anyone has used their cigar bands to make clear varnished beer coasters or adhered them to wood products? thought this might be a good idea maybe making a series of 6, putting some cork on the bottom for grip and box them up to make for good presents. I don't own many of one band but I've seen people selling them on ebay.

Id like to know what varnish and glue would be best to use for something like this. Any wood workers here with some experience.
