Rehman Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 This from www.taxfreetravel.com: "With effect from August 2010, travellers and visitors over 18 years of age entering HK, are allowed 1 litre of alcoholic liquor/spirit with an alcoholic strength above 30% by volume and 19 cigarettes or 1 cigar or 25 grammes of other manufactured tobacco." That's not a typo. ONE cigar!!
El Presidente Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 That sucks Thank God their Airport Customs Clearance only stops locals (in my experience)
Chaki Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 That said, the duty is HKD2,197/kg or USD282/kg of cigars...most likely, the customs officer will say thank you for declaring but waive you through
Fuzz AI Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 At least you're allowed one cigar. At Changi, there is no duty free concession on tobacco products! Though, you are allowed to bring in a mix of alcohol; either 1 litre each of wine, beer and spirits, 2 litres of wine and 1 of beer or 1 litre of wine and 2 of beer. Why you can't bring in 3 litres of either one is beyond me? It should be noted, this is only for what they classify as "genuine" visitors, ie not Malaysians hopping across the border to splurge on some duty free. You also have to have been outside of Singapore for more than 48 hrs and not arriving from M'sia. So for most of us, that means no flying into Singapore and buying DF, then popping over to M'sia for a day trip, and then back into S'pore to pick up some more DF.
