AlexOk Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 RG 39 Length 125mm Machine-made short filler wrapped in cellophane, Produced until 2002. Initially noticed the flowery, fresh cold smell. I don't expect that at a 13-year-old machinemade cigar. Slight toasted hazelnut-shell to mixed with aromatic, white chocolate and fresh sawdust. Beautiful, even combustion. Silver-gray ash with a closed surface. From time to time there is a "ash-fiber" protruding out of the surface. Slightly stained. Good stability. 1st third: The flavors of the cold smell are also reflected in the first few turns. Freshly baked pastry, caramel and chocolate. Supplemented with aromatic aromas of cedar-wood and sandalwood. This always very flowery. Reminiscent of orchids. 2nd third: This trend continues in the second third gone. Delicious and spicy wood. For this, the floral aromas of herbs and wild flowers fit. Velvety, creamy smoke. 3rd third: As expected, the flavors are out to end more robust. Moderate roasted flavors are reminiscent of strong toasted bread. The cigar becomes strong earthy. Simultaneously, the floral aromas of wild grasslands continue to be found in the creamy-buttery smoke. The finals will begin with fresh menthol notes. Conclusion: Wow! A great little cigar, on which the machinemaking do not necessarily remarks. Too bad that there are no longer so many.
Plato Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 DonA, Excellent review on what appears to have been an excellent little smoke. How would you rate it against other older smokes you've tried? Plato
AlexOk Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 Hi Plato, that's hard to say. I've smoked only a few old cigars. Most of the cigars in my humidor still need to get old. But compared with the few old cigars, I've smoked, I would say that the Partagas - Belvedere is one of the most aromatic cigars. Very well-balanced flavors. Very complex. A direct rating against a other mature cigar is not so useful in my opinion. The individual brands are very different and your own taste plays also a big role. I evaluate each cigar on its own. But I can say that the small Partagas is one of the best cigars, I was allowed to smoke previously.
