I received a PM from a FOH member advising that the El Rey del Mundo Standard Band B has been used on a box of Demi Tasse (BOA MAR 11).

A second member has advised a box of Demi Tasse with (what appears to be) a band B, box code BOA JUN 10.

This is the fist advice of the standard band B being used on standard production cigars.

Standard Band B

Standard band B is an identical style to the standard band A (but has better defintion and embossing) and has been used for Special Releases since 2007.

Standard Band A

Could members check any recent El Rey del Mundo purchases and advise if the B bands are on Choix Supréme & Petit Coronas.

Please advise box dates where possible.

Many thanks, Trevor

This post prompted me to look at my 2 ERDM boxes. I found 2 very interesting things:

1) The box of Demi Tasse I am currently smoking also appears to have Standard Band B. Box Code is BOA JUN 10.

2) My second box of Demi Tasse (OSB NOV 09) which is just sitting and I have never taken a closer look at appears to have a band which is not listed at all... There are 2 very prominent differences... The band seems to be of a lesser quality then usual and has an ERMD seal slightly different from A and B bands. The other thing I noticed upon further inspection is that the edges of the band (where it says CUBA and HABANA) are straight cut and do not follow the curves of the design.

Now my first thought was of course that they must be fakes, however further inspection of the packaging and seals show no other inconstancies as far as I can tell.

I must say that I am a bit perplexed, maybe it was just a bad run of bands or some old leftovers because everything else including the cigars, although I have yet to try one, appears PERFECT.

ANY Thoughts????

Can you photograph the band please?

Here it is

Hi Freddie,

Your band is the type A band.

Three points:

1. The triangles around the centre circle are filled in.

2. The end yellow section different (see lhs marked)

3. No red in section 3 as marked (both ends).
