Well this is the first review I have ever done!

Unfortunately I don't know how old this cigar is as got it in a sampler pack purchased a couple of months ago from a vendor overseas

Starting off the appearance of this cigar is excellent no hard or soft spots, nice smooth wrapper with only a few small veins noticeable, pigtail cap had been applied perfectly

Aroma at cold isn't particularly great, a small amount of sweet tobacco is present

The draw after cutting is tight, which unfortunately didn't open up after lighting.

Probably could have cut a bit further.

First Third

Grassy Flavours are dominant with mushroom providing a significant presence, hints of milk chocolate are getting involved towards the end of the first third.

So far has been a reasonably smooth smoke with little spice at a medium body, the burn so far has been a bit uneven but nothing serious. Did have to relight after the first 2 cms or so.

Second Third

Continuing on from the first third with the mushroom dying down, a nuttiness is present at times, with hints of coffee and chocolate present.

Towards the end of the second third mushroom flavours a picking up again, right before I had to relight again

Cigar thus far has been relatively good considering I don't like mushrooms.

Final Third

Grassiness is still strong but mushroom flavours are starting to become much more involved.

Unfortunately the mushroom flavours became too dominant and I had to give the cigar up with about an inch to go.

Still ending up smoking it for about 50 mins. Stayed medium throughout cigar though did start to increase at the start of the final third, anyways it didn't have a chance to gain strength as I'd had enough!

Overall I have this cigar 81/100

Appearance 13/15

Couldn't ask for a whole lot more, an oily wrapper would have been nice!

Flavour and Taste 20/25

This is subjective as I'm sure many of you out there would have thoroughly enjoyed the flavours present, unfortunately not for me

Smoking Characteristics 20/25

Probably generous considering I had to relight twice, however there was a strong breeze at the time. There isn't any really any excuses for the uneven burn though maybe the 70% humidity it was stored at had an effect. Also the tight draw as a bit disappointing but it could have been worse.

Overall Experience 28/35 I thought this cigar was pretty good overall, even with a few things counting against it and my dislike for mushrooms

I think overall I gave this cigar a fair mark, I would recommend for others, as it is cigar which is worth trying if you like grassy/funghi tastes!

I've smoked quite a few Reyes and I've never experienced a mushroom flavour... I get more of a nice butteriness with some hints of nuts.

I, personally, love the Reyes. Very flavourful, complex little stick.

sounds to me like you would have had a much better experience after a few days of dryboxing or keeping the humidity down to 63-65%. The decrease in humidity tends to brighten flavors and improve draw and burn. If you are used to non-cubans I've always said that the majority of NC's store better at 68-70% while the cubans require a lower humidity to thrive- just my opinion.

The butteriness was there, my inexperienced palate could not give the flavour a name at the time, I think the most appropriate flavour is more like sauteed mushrooms now I think about it!

I think my humidity currently is at 70%, dryboxing may have to be the go in the future as it's hard to keep the humidity to 65%.

Mushroom!! that is a new one for a Reyes. A great little cigar and is my go to smoke when short on time. I normally get Cocoa, cedar, coffee and caramel tasting notes but nary a mushroom.

I always get a creamy tea flavor. Sort of like green tea serves with cream and sugar. Then again, it could just be the color of the band that makes me think that :)
