Probably asked before but,

I just joined th OLH service and was thinking on what will be good boxes to lay down for a long term, maybe 5 years.

I know if they were near me there's no way they would last that long.

I'll defiantly put down PARTAGAS 8-9-8 VARNISHED

Just need 2 more idea.

Please keep it under $200 a box :D

Thanks.

I would go for a cabinet of Party Shorts. (Cabinet = two boxes)

Five years is maybe not considered as long term aging, but it's still aging and much better than nothing.

Good luck to your project!

I don't know if these are the best, but the first that come to mind are the Vegas Robaina Famosos and Clasicos (the Clasico may be a bit over the budget,

but I think worth the extra ducats). In the past I would have also included the Upmann Magnum 46, but many members are saying that recent vintages

have been more smokeable young (I'm still smoking '05s).

I agree with VR Clasico. I have had 2 box from year 2001(ECA, Sep 01) and the have aged well. Still left half box and they are stunnig. All harshness and edges has smoothed and precious taste has left. All chocolate, cocoa, honey and leather - united with strong earth taste. Still defenetly medium bodied.

I havent had any draw problems with clasico even though other lonsdale have been quite inconsistency. Strongly recommed.

For aging I would lay down big flavored and popular sitcks, such as:

10 ct Parti Lusis

PSD 4

Monte 2

10 ct Sig VI

BGM (recently discontinued)

good luck

Por Larranaga Petit Corona (the 50 cab will push you over the budget)

Partagas SD4

Partagas Shorts and Petit Corona

SLR Regios

Upmann Magnum 46

HDM Des Dieux

What about the SLR Series A?

The 50-Cab ist a "bit" over your limit, but imo it's one of the best cigars to age. Look for a 2007-BD. Don't grab the B25-Box.

Generally I allways prefer a SLB (Cabinet) for aging.

HDM Des Dieux, i have boxes and boxes of them and give them 5-10 years and they excellent,

cant go wrong,

outside your budget you have HDM DC, 5+ years on them and they are also excellent.
