kiwicrusaders Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Okay, so I have never written a proper cigar review before (some of you guys have it down to a fine art). So I am going to make this brief. I decided to light up a SLR Regios a few days ago. I had been delaying this, as as she was an ugly looking example for a cigar... mostly due to a slightly torn wrapper. So I wasn't holding up much hope. I cut the cigar with a guillotine cutter and she looked nicely packed. The draw was nice (how I like it, just a little resistance). The pre-light taste taste was of a light leather. I wont go through all the 3 stages of the cigar (pallet isn't so well developed). But I will say that this cigar far exceeded expectations. It wasn't spicy like a Partagas D4 and wasn't as creamy as another cigar I had ... it was somwhere in between and also had a 'nuttiness' that I couldn't quite place. The smoke time surprised me... 1/30min (not sure why Hermasos 4's smoke longer than Robusto?) I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar, to the point that I think I will be buying a box. Although I got more flavours from a Vegas Robaina Famsos ... this puppy had something that I really enjoyed. Not sure who else has tried these and what you thought of them... but would be interested to hear.
KWG116 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Buy a box. I had some A's from 01 and they kind of suck. So I never thought I would buy a box. About 3 months ago decided to try a box of regios. Was I impressed. I have smoked half the box and everyone was great. Medium bodied with a small amount of spice. But a very smooth unique flavor. Mine have dark rough wrappers. Hope this helps Thank you Kwg116
ksblazer Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Just in the last year or so I've become a big fan of the SLR Regios as well. My box is from late 08 and they were some of the best young cigars I've tried. Then they needed some down time about 3 months later. Just tried one last week and they are back!! A great cigar for the price IMO.
DOORJOK Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Just tried one of these for Lunch but I do not have the Box code info. Very pleasant wit a touch of Spiciness to it. Nice even draw. Burned Smooth with no retouching. About a 30 min. smoke.
Sutton Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Im telling you its the stone fruit ! lol yeah there is somthing about the flavor profile, you can taste nectarine or apricots I love it .Not the sexiest looing cigar ,but never judge a book by it cover.
bstarrs Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Always been intrigues by these, might finally give them a try.
