mgillett Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 My desktop humi is pretty much overflowing at this point and I got to thinking. Should I be looking to get a small cabinet humi or should I just go for a wine cooler/fridge? I have a couple of problems with this the main one being that I'm buggered if I can find anyone who sells smaller cabinet type humidors. Advice I have received is that I would probably have to get one made. I don't think I am breaching forum rules here 'cause El Prez doesn't sell humidors (if I am wrong then I deeply apologise!). I am not looking for a real expensive number and don't want to import one from the US so this is probably a question for Aussie members. Second part is does a wine cooler maintain stable humidity? This isn't clear in what I have read. It looks like it could be a set and forget alternative. Any info welcome.
jay8354 Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 I have got the same problem myself, as do quite a few Aussie FOH members. We don't want to import internationally if we don't have to. From the looks of things, most Wine Storage Cabinets are ok though you do have to ensure they are able to keep a stable humidity. The more expensive models that I have found on the internet, do a very good job of stable humidity. Wine Fridges, you will need to check that they are able to adjust the Temperatue. Most Wine Fridges (cheap ones anyway) don't have any humidifers. There was a previous post about this, where the Glorious Leader advised that he is going to come up with a production model around March 2006 (fingers-crossed).
mgillett Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 Would not have thought I was the first person to have this problem and looks like it could be a lucrative niche that a forward thinking cigar entrepreneur could be exploiting. March 2006 huh? Not sure I can last that long. Hope El Prez cranks up the R&D department soon...
mgillett Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 Yep, I have duplicated a thread! Just found it and has pretty much all the info I was after. Sorry about that folks
