MontrealRon Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 AUD/USD 1.0000 Interesting. Who would ever have guessed, a couple of years ago. So how is this impacting life, and the economy, in Oz?
El Presidente Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 We actually surpassed the USD (also known as the Pacific Peso) a few weeks back. As an exporting country it is not good but we are lucky to have a solid economy and 5% unemployment. Not much we can do. While the US prints money as a solution to its ills the USD will continue to be under pressure.
sloth Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Glad I left the dollar years ago... i only invest in plastic and debt... the smart money.
SethG Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Yeah, it was pretty obvious this was going to happen when Obama first made comments that dollar devaluation cures trade imbalances (which is somewhat true). In the US we call this "beggar thy neighbor" economics.... sorry you guys have to deal with it. Amazing development, by the way I mean this post as completely non-political, just a little monetary policy discussion!

sblevit Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 ^ Probably not. But it will make cigars for Americans more expensive.
