adic88 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 My second Edición Regional (ER) cigar, the Ramon Allones Celestiale Finos was made specifically for the 2009 Asia Pacific region under the banner of Pacific Cigars Company. The Ramon Allones Small Club Corona and the Ramon Allones Specially Selected are particular favourites of mine, so expectations were high for this brand and this cigar in particular. Today in particular has been a poor day for me. Someone smashed my car window, probably to break into my car and steal whatever of value was inside. Nothing was taken, oddly enough, but the chore and cost of having to replace a broken window was enough to make me want something really nice from my humidor tonight. And, in Ramon i trust to deliver. As it turns out, that didn’t work as planned either. Full review with pics and tasting notes can be found here http://mycigarblog.org/blog/?p=1256
Guest Robusto 107 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 What's the date code? Maybe still in the sick period. Hope will be far better after couple of year. I believe RA never let u down.
adic88 Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Its a bit of a peeve for me -- its a "premium" limited edition cigar (well limited by regions anyways), but it's something that needs to be aged before it can be enjoyed? That's like saying, buy the Ferrari now but you got to keep it in the garage for 2 years before you can drive it. A good cigar smokes well now, and smokes even better 2, 3, 5 or 10 years down the road.
Guest Robusto 107 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 It is not convincing to pay premium for an extra band. Better to buy several boxes of CoRob for aging and smoking. Anyway waiting for your next year review. haha! Hope will improve greatly.

There has been some thought that these were intentionally blended more for mid to long term aging rather than approachability while young. But given that reviews for these have been all over the place, it's hard to say. Personally, I don't look at REs as being superior to, or "premium" over good regular production cigars - simply sizes not normally found in the line. And as I like to joke about REs - Rarely Exceptional
landhoney Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 A good cigar smokes well now, and smokes even better 2, 3, 5 or 10 years down the road. If they were all blended like this it might become boring. Certain flavor profiles may only be achievable by a cigar that is unapproachable young, but down the road becomes sublime. These RACF's are cheaper. Maybe you're just saying CoRo's are a sure thing though, I personally like to have 'both bases covered'.
Guest rob Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the cigar. Thsi is one of my personal favourites and I purchased as many as I could afford. Every one I have had has been delicious... and I adore the vitola.
bigfunkyg Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Dont' loose hope. I just picked up a box of these. My first which was OTT was great as was my first experience with these two months previous (single, not from same box) was fantastic. Revisited them Tuesday night and they needed a bit more re-aclimitization time but I expected them to be great again.
