mazolaman Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 A bit of a cult film, but brilliant. The main character(I)and his flatmate are actors struggling for work,in the *** end of the 60s. They've burnt themselves out on drink'n'drugs,so make an escape to the Lake district, supposedly for rest and recuperation. The two main characters get into many funny situations, and the film really does have great script. What makes it special is the poignant nature of the scenes,ie London at the end of the 60s,and the obvious neediness of Withnail. That rare thing,a comedy film that also has pathos.
bassman Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I saw this movie when first released. Perhaps I missed the humor. I thought it was a good film, but pretty depressing.
MIKA27 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Never seen or heard of this one but will look into it for sure.
