frenchkiwi Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Commiserations to wallabies and fans. they played well against a mistake-ridden all blacks side, built up a deserved lead, but weren't good enough to hold out in the end. all the pressure they put on the ABs showed up the rookies in our side - Cruden can't punt far enough, Vito can't defend off scrums, neither deserve to be in the side yet. Elsom, K Beale, L Turner, D Pocock had good games. But you can't buy the type of composure that won the match in the end. Less experienced players on both sides will learn from it and be better next year. incidentally i enjoyed the value of a churchill - it lasts 90mn bang on, it's made for watching footy. H Upmann not my favourite marca because of the flavour, but the sir winston was enjoyable enough. Rich woody slightly sweet flavour, hallmark of the brand, that did not vary from start to finish, never left medium-body, perfect when you have your attention elsewhere (reminds me of a milder nicaraguan, not really my thing). Ever so slight ligero crescendo at the end. Went out on me bang on half time and full time whistles just to show how in tune it is with the sport.

Wallabies are still well off the pace although it is great to witness the battle between McCaw and Pocock. They push each other to new hights. Unfortunately we have no one else as mentally tough as Pocock.
