dicko Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 how can you tell if your cigars are to dry in the humidor. my cigars seem to be pretty stiff. the hygrometer says it is at 70% but i dont trust it a whole lot. is their some trick to tell if they are to dry. roll your cigars in between your index finger and thumb, and hold up to your ear, if the wrapper makes a lot of crackling sounds it could be an indicator they are too dry. definitely get a 'second opinion' from a second hygrometer and calibrate the one you are using now. i actually prefer my cigars a little drier 60-65%.im no humidor expert though :-)

"lightly" squeeze a few cigars between thumb and index finger. There should be some give a little like a well filled shushi roll. The wrapper should not be "flaky". if you cut the foot of your cigar it should come off easily in one piece without "crumbling".
