Cohiba Pirámide EL ROA OCT 06

My third from this box.

Construction: Par for the course - very nice, all in order.

Wrapper: Lightly mottled colorado with a slight barber pole effect near the foot. Relatively smooth with a light tooth. Little oil to speak of.

Pre-Light Aroma / Draw / Taste: Funky aroma. Good draw tasting lightly of powdered cocoa.

Draw / Burn / Smoke Volume: Good on all counts.

Taste: With little or no change or progression in flavor over the course, these are my overall impressions:

Initial draws are mellow - cocoa and lightly toasted tobacco. Body is medium, perhaps a little more, but the smoothness makes this a bit deceptive.

The cocoa is light but has some richness to it - a bit mousse-like, and while generally the flavors are light, there is nice density on the palate.

Some hints of green grass along with some tartness on the tip of the tongue, but not strong or overt. Midpoint shows the cocoa turning more buttery

in both texture and flavor, but the cigar returns to it's main profile relatively quickly.

It remains smooth and fairly supple to the end, with my overall impression being generically chocolaty. Easy to smoke but rather nondescript.

Some time after finishing the aftertaste is cardboard with cocoa. In my opinion, the progression, or perhaps regression, of this cigar does not

bode well for it's future - at least for this particular box.

Score: Loathe to give one, but in trying to highlight the positive, 88

Last smoked one on Xmas day after a Cohiba DC and thought it was OK not as good as they smoked fresh, the DC on the other hand was stellar. Heading home tomorrow for a couple weks off I may pull another and see how it smokes
