El Presidente Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Aussies lose to Taiwan in baseball final August 2, 2010 - 4:39PM http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-sport...0802-112yu.html AAP Australia claimed the silver medal at the junior world baseball championships, losing 8-4 to Taiwan in Sunday's tournament final in Thunder Bay, Canada. The runners-up finish is Australia's best ever result at the championships and came after they sprung a 2-1 defeat on favoured Cuba in the semi-finals. Australia were dreaming of an even bigger result early in the final when Josh Matavesi scoring off an error in the third inning and hit a triple-RBI home-run in the fourth inning to establish a 4-1 lead. But the Taiwanese fought back strongly after a rain delay in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring four runs upon the resumption to seal the title.
MIKA27 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Not a bad result for Australia baseball. The Asians in general love baseball and are pretty darn good.
Ben Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Yeah Mika, The **** have won the last 2 World Baseball Classics.
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The All Blacks thrashed the Wallabies yet again...
El Presidente Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 The All Blacks thrashed the Wallabies yet again... And they deserve ever accolade brilliant display. Ken will tell you I was vehemently against a Kiwi coach when Deans was appointed (Ken was for) and no matter how you turn it , he has been a failure. Aussies beat Kiwi's playing one style...in your face bastard aggressive Rugby. The prima dona whiteboard rugby display saturday was an embarrassment not seen since Eddie Jones abysmal coaching record....which by the was is superior to Deans.
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Some Kiwis regarded Deans as a traitor for defecting to the Aussies. In hindsight, most have now finally realised that he was NZ's best weapon to humiliate the Wallabies.
El Presidente Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 I think NZ AB is the only team he has not coached for a victory against. not surprising. How does a coach rail in the dressing room against our most despised sporting enemy? How do you reinforce how soft they are mentally, how the choke under pressure consistently, how to laugh at the Haka or even better continue on our warm up and ignore them completely? How do you do this when your coach is one of them? Apologies, I forgot it is the era of professionalism and passion does not count any more. PfffT.
Guest rob Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Australian Rugby makes me cry. It was so bad the other night that I couldnt watch teh whole game. The ball boys play a better match than the Aussies do.
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 So when will the upstart Kiwi be chucked out?
bunburyist Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 How does a coach rail in the dressing room against our most despised sporting enemy? Are the Wallabies even top 10 any more? Stick to 'soccer' eh
El Presidente Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 So when will the upstart Kiwi be chucked out? He deserves to see out/or be paid out his contract. It is not his fault. Kiwi teams are very rarely out skilled. They are ambushed. Unless a coach can deliver fire and brimstone on the paddock he is useless to us. Average technical rugby is enough to be beat Ireland/Wales/Scotland/ but you have to have Fire to beat the Boks and the Blacks. We can play that style against the Boks...why not the Blacks? Kiwi coach.
El Presidente Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 sorry, let me catch my breath...choking on a meat pie. ahahahhaha.....oh the irony. Are the Wallabies even top 10 any more? Stick to 'soccer' eh Andrew before long you will take the knotted hankie off your head, take off the long socks, agree that cold beer is better than warm ....and move here permanently
thechenman Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Just like Aussies huh? A baseball discussion takes a turn and goes to rugby...
El Presidente Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Just like Aussies huh? A baseball discussion takes a turn and goes to rugby... ..we don't even have a National baseball competition here. Baseball would come just behind darts but in front of marbles in terms of general interest and participation
thechenman Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 ..we don't even have a National baseball competition here. Baseball would come just behind darts but in front of marbles in terms of general interest and participation Too funny...as an aside...A-Rod hit his 600th homer yesterday. Wonder if they are going to put an asterik next to his final HR tally when all is said an done as he is an admitted steroids user...even though he says it is all in the past. With all the crap going on in MLB...it's no wonder Aussies have no interest in the sport.
