  1. I have always been fascinated by this building - even before I took a Casa Particular 300 yards from it ( can be seen at 0:36 the white apartment building at the mouth of the Almendares river ). And you can also see the Villa that @Elpresidente rented in that same view looking over the river mouth. This is at the entrance to Miramar, Calle 0 at La Puntilla. I knew the building housed the Soviet military advisors in the 60's and 70's/80's and that it is ruins now - but only just found its history on YT. Turns out it was built in 1957 as a luxury Condo, 11 stories and 6 elevators, 2 pools. State company Cubalse was housed here ( the company that offers staff to foreign companies in Cuba ), I knew that. I din't know that Cubalse chased the few people living there away claiming they would renovate or build a Hotel ... Some people/families still live in the central part of the building and are happy to be there. I was always amazed to see light at night in the ruins. Very Dantesque... Incredible in any sense.
