Hi there,
I was hoping I could get some insight into "normal" or "common" values for Rh fluctuations per hour in an electric humidor. I see swings of 4rh twice per hour and wonder if this is normal.
This is measured directly in the electric humidor and not inside a box of cigars.
Thanks for any insights!
Thanks all. I think having govee spoiled it a bit for me. For 25 years I had cigars in a simple humidor, from Germany, to Singapore, from Hong Kong to Melbourne and all was good. Now, I am stressed all the time about the cigars 😕
Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate the spirit of your support.
Unfortunately, the questions are somewhat related, similar not the same and unfortunately no answer to the question. I still see positive correlation between the and temperature (rather than negative) and have no explanation.
Now, I see very high Rh fluctuations despite the humidor being inside a fridge and sealed along the lid completely with like 6 boveda packs. Not sure if you are able to help?
I was wondering if people with experience could opine:
I have some (slightly?) dry Partagas P2s. They are coming on 6 years and I was wondering if it is normal for this cigar to look slightly mottled?
Perhaps it is the dryness; if so, would the appearance change with more humidity?
Thanks all!
Hi there,
Quick one: fed up with the RH topic myself but why is my RH with boveda packs always highly positively correlated with temperature?
- boveda not quick to react to humidity changes?
- boveda very unstable with temperature?
- cigars moisture evaporates more quickly at increasing temps than boveda can absorb?
- I am a bit stumped.
Attaching a pic that's typical (not a long time frame but it is pretty much the same over weeks).
The temp change is not typical but it happened so I thought I use it as an example.
Thanks for any insights!
.
I do agree that they smell sweeter; but mine are quite dry and shrunk visibly (not a lot but enough to be able to discern a change) and the smell is on the verge of "sick" smell (not like the sick period, I think). I'll try and re-surrect them; they don't seem dead but I think they took some damage. I am slowly getting them to 63rh at 68F.
I seem to remember that smells are stronger in low humidity but that's about the ambient humidity, not the humidity of the cigar.
Hi there,
Quick one: does a dry cigar lose its characteristic smell or even "turn"? I feel that they become very "smelly" but I am not experienced enough to know if this is normal or if there is anything wrong with my cigars beyond them being dried out.
Thanks for any options and insights!
Thanks mate, exactly what I was after thanks a lot. I did search and sometimes it's not clear what words to use "packaging codes"! Thank you!
Interesting, that means there is no production/boxing date as part of this coding?
Hi there,
Typed the code into the habanos page and got this:
PARTAGAS SERIE P No.2 SBN-UW-C/L-12,13-n-25
product is correct but not sure about the meaning of SBN-UW-C/L-12,13-n-25?
thanks all!
I know this is a 12 year old post but I'll just say it: this reasoning, not by you but in general, is simply not a useful rgument. This is populist, unhelpful and subjective. And only people without a Ferrari argue this way. People who know cars well AND own a Ferrari know better.
