Spanish cedar. I've heard you can also use American red cedar, but it's not as good. Caveat, I have no experience with anything other than Spanish cedar

Spanish Cedar as far as I gather is a mahogany. Cedar of any other kind is a no no. Probably a thread somewhere here on the reasoning for that. But it is no good. I am chasing two rambunctious boys and cooking dinner at the moment so you may have to search this one out.

Edit... Yah what Fuzz said too.

Spanish cedar is a mahogany and therefore is expensive. Another mahogany can be used as a substitute. Of course plywood veneer with Spanish cedar lining works quite well too. Any type of real cedar is way to aromatic.

I got a PM from a moderator letting me know that I can put up details of the wood supplier.

I got the timber from Anagote Timbers Pty Ltd

144 Renwick St, Marrickville NSW 2204
(02) 9558 8444

they do have a website but it seems to be down atm (http://anagote.com)

Just ask for Cigar box cedar.

They have a variety of widths (from 100mm to 300mm) and lengths (2.7 m to 3.2m). They can dress the timber for a very reasonable price.

Good luck
