Styler Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 We've had a few windows of sun recently so I thought I would make the most of the opportunity and take a cigar to work. I went for a 2008 PLPC and decided to have a walk around the beech and harbour while smoking it.The cigar felt to be a decent weight for a PC. The wrapper had more of a sandpaper look rather than an oily sheen. Upon clipping the draw was just how I like it with a little resistance. The cigar wasnt giving off much in the way of aroma but the per-light draw had a nice sweet tobacco flavour. Upon lighting I was hit by what I can only describe as sweet creamy pepper, like someone had made some custard and chopped a Scotch Bonnet into it. This died down after the first few draws though and left me with a dark and rich sweetness like Demerara sugar. This first third was amazing! Into the second third and the breeze picked up a little which was effecting the burn a bit but not enough to warrant touching up. The sweetness died down and light wood flavours came to the front, Balsa wood maybe? There was also a hint of peanut brittle every couple of puffs. Towards the end things got darker and a little warmer. My fault as I had probably been enjoying it a little too quickly. Trying to slow down a bit I got a lot more wood, more like cedar with a little leather and espresso. This was a great PLPC, I just wish they were all like this! I hate scoring because there are so many factors at work when enjoying a cigar but if pushed I would go 91.
cottierm Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Dear Styler, Stop smoking these ugly PLPCs and leave them all to me, please! Beautiful first pick! Best, Michel
winelover Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Great review and fantastic pics. Where was the beach? PLPCs are a staple that should be in everyone's humidor.
Styler Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 Thanks guys. The beach was Aberdeen beach, I work for a company located by the harbour so it's just down the road. Handy for a lunchtime stroll.
