mb55317 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Hi all, I tried to search on this subject but couldnt find anything. Sorry if this has already been answered before. I recently purchased a box on Monte No 1's and put them in my converted wine cooler. I keep it a steady 68/68. I opened the box a couple of days later only to find several small white bugs crawling around on my 'gars! They're no larger than a grain of salt. I wondered if anyone had found a similar issue? If so, what did you do in order to clear them out? Are they harmful? I dont think they're tobbacco beetles. So far i've simply brushed them off and put the cigars back in the box. I checked today and found a couple more and did the same. Any insight would be appreciated... Thanks, MB
Colt45 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I can't say for sure, but they sound like mites, which are mostly attracted to moisture and don't pose a direct hazard to cigars. If you do a search for mites, you'll find a few threads with more member experiences.

shrink Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Crab lice. Same things that infested Bill Clinton's cigars.

jfury76 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Those little critters would be wood mites. Had a minor infestation a couple of years back. They are completely harmless to your sticks and a real nuisance to gid rid off fully! I kept vigilantly vaccuuming my desktop box until the buggers relented.
