I had a magical box of 1999 Bolivar Coronas. Every one was brilliant! What was really funny was that they all had these thin, light wrappers which I never thought would be good on a Bolivar. :-)

After that was probably the box of 1997 Monte #2s from the UK. That was a good box, though they looked a bit rough. I wish I had ten more of those too!

VR Unicos from 1998. I keep chasing after that experience but the recent ones don't hold up, they're good, just not THAT good.

Thats very interesting Don,

I have a slightly different take on this.

To me I can think of maybe 2/3 boxes in the last ten years where a cigar has stopped me in my tracks and I think to myself, WOW this is it. In these moments time stands still and totally sensory pleasure takes over. These moments stand head and shoulders above the rest as highlights in my cigar smoking career so to speak LOL!.

Its kind of like discovering true talent at work in any walk of llife. Its so rare that when you see it you just know how special it is. In sport for example think, Zidane, Eric Cantona, Tiger Woods, Lewis Hamilton, Roger Federer, David Campese(for Rob). Its a privelage to watch or experience greatness because so much of everything on this planet is well average including cigars/wine/food/ etc etc.

Bob, hopefully your SLB of BBF's are better than my 2004's are. I have one from August that I sampled one from a couple weeks ago. Painfully average.

The DB's I have however---the wrapper is the lightest natural shade I have ever seen. Almost white, tinged with a little brown and green. Ugly even. But strong and tasty as hell.

Bolivar Inmensas MAR 01, these are so smooth & sweet. Its hard to imagine that I still have about 20 left.

 Excellent choice I've still got some of these stashed away. One less after tonight I think now.

My fave box was a spur of the moment purchase over in Perth back in the mid nineties. HDM Epicure II from memory and they lasted me my month in WA. Each and every one was superb, I've nothing but good memories of that trip and the sticks were a big part of it.

I'm hoping that they will be the PL Robustos! :-)

A couple of years ago I picked up some mid 70s ERDM lonsdales for a decent price and I love them to death...along with the SLR londales.
