The Lizards pair the Avowed The Vow 6.29 and eleven year aged Lagavulin Offerman Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The guys discuss the Habanos Festival and planned releases, they share ideas for estate planning for your cigar collection, and a listener calls them to task on Rum additives. (This episode was recorded Feb. 9, 2026, before the Habanos festival was postponed indefinitely.) PLUS: Breakfast Cereals, Cuba Has No Fuel, Spouses Buying Cigars as Gifts, What NOT to Do With Your Cigars When You're Gone, Enlightenment Cigars & More...

The Offerman Lags have been absolute bangers.

This one is the first I’ve had and it’s really good. One low rating pulled it down too far, IMO.

I haven't listened to the episode yet as I have quite the podcast backlog at the moment.

There's four versions IIRC. The original Offerman, pretty good. Guinness Cask Finish, exceptional and my favourite. Charred Oak, pretty good probably my second favourite. Carribean Rum, haven't picked this one up yet.

The main problem with good cigars as spouse gifts in our house is who ends up smoking them. 😆

Shouldn't the rule be that the gifted spouse smokes them but may invite the gifting spouse to smoke one with them?

Probably should be, yes. 😆 The general rule is no unauthorized dipping into aged or rare stuff but regular production is okay. If you smoke it up you buy the next box.

Ahh, the way my wife and I treat boxes of cookies. 😁

We have a nice big cookie box for communal dipping that is Bond Roberts and Fabrica 005 flavored. 😆

I know these have all scored well, but surely I couldn't be the only one imagining Giz's voice... "Another Lancero Kelner on the pod tonight, boys!"

I miss Lanceros.

I really loved hearing Pagoda mention De La Concha in NYC. I first went there when I was 18 years old, and the guys in that shop took me under their wing and taught me so much of what I know about cigars and cigar smoking.

Eventually, after leaving NYC for grad and law school, I returned and became part of the group of regulars that inhabited the tables in front of their amazing window (on a summer day, the view was intoxicating). This is where I got my first cigar nickname (first Twitch because I have seizures and then Twitch Hudson after I did a triathlon that had me swim in that gross waterway), first smoked so many of what would be my favorite cigars, and first understood at a real level the camaraderie that this hobby affords us.

That place was sold to Davidoff and is the same physical address as the lounge I currently frequent and of which I’m a member. But it’s not the same place. Some of the staff are the same and still lovely folks. Some of the patrons recall the old days (though I haven’t met many who claim to despite having been there daily for years). But it’s not the same.

RIP De La Concha. But long live Lizard Nation!

@NYGuido nailed it with the Montecristo Especial. I haven't smoked enough NC's to recommend any in that realm though, aside from the Nudies N1 perhaps?
