JDoughty Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 In nice clear cello? LOL. I have some actual pre-embargo Dunhills in cello and the color on the cello is deep amber, yellow shading almost brown. They are delicious and I smoke them on special occasions. There was some company claiming to have a bundle of old pre embargo Cuban tobacco that they rolled in a blend with other leaf. I tried one. IMO no resemblance. They were pretty terrible and I am not even sure what they actually had. These may be them. So they may not exactly be fake per se if that's what they are. They just aren't good. They weren't super expensive but I was not interested in buying any more. 1 1
rcarlson Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 Huh? The box lid plainly says "pre-Castro Cuban Cigars." No one would put that legend on the inside of a box unless it was true. Wonder if that was put on there before Castro. Love the cello. Not as stained as the blunts in my hood, but they are "pre-Castro." 1 2

Havanaaddict Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 I did find this: Pre-Castro Tobacco Cuban Cigars Series 1958 Handmade in the Dominican Republic. This is truly a rare find and a highly sought after piece of collectible tobacco history. Pre-Castro or Pre-Embargo Cuban tobacco cigars are considered as collectors items and turn among a few hands around the world. The value of this item is solely in its collectible packaging, the bands, and the wood box. Also these cigars were once owned by the current Secretary of Commerce Carlos Guiterriez Sr. They were passed down to his son and then I bought them from him-- he was my roommate. I do not know much about this particular series or brand but I do know you can't get any collectible set of Pre-Castro cigars for less than 100 dollars. Sometimes they run 70 dollars per cigar. The bands have not been removed from the cigars they were packaged with, however the tobacco is strictly not for consumption. Before you bid on this item, you must follow and understand the e-bay policy: 1. The value of the item is in the collectible packaging, not in the tobacco itself. And then I found this: 100% CUBAN 100% LEGAL-----SERIES 1958 These "Pre-Castro Cuban Cigars" are rolled entirely of Cuban tobacco that has been aged for over 45 years and certified as legally imported into the U.S. prior to the 1960's Cuban Embargo. These finished cigars have been re-imported with the full permission of the United States Department of Treasury: Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms. 😂 1
