James Metherall was a skillful full forward (a position in Australian rules football) for the Norwood Football Club who played a crucial role in the team's 1894 premiership win. J. McGaffin played for the South Adelaide Football Club, which is a team in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). McGaffin was a premiership player, winning two with South Adelaide in 1893 and 1895.
