Proposed cigar lounge in North Brunswick would replace old bank

Susan Loyer - MyCentralJersey.com

NORTH BRUNSWICK – A cigar lounge may replace a former bank on Aaron Road.

Tobacco Leaf is seeking preliminary and final major site plan approval with bulk variances to convert the 3,000-square-foot Brunswick Bank and Trust building with two drive-thrus at 1060 Aaron Road into a 4,000-square-foot tobacco store with a cigar sampling room, according to documents filed with the township.

The property is on the south side of Aaron Road adjacent to Aaron Plaza and just north of the Route 1 southbound exit ramp.

The site is in the C-2 General Commercial Zone, where retail uses are permitted.

The plan proposes renovating the interior of the building and enclosing the drive-thru window lanes to create a cigar sampling room.

Access is provided via a one-way entrance driveway on the north and a one-way exit driveway on the south side of the property, which will not be changed.

A hearing is scheduled for the 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12 Planning Board meeting.
