Last minute change of business plans leaves me in downtown Chicago on this Monday and Tuesday in the middle of one of the coldest spells for years. Is there anywhere an English novice to the city can get a cigar and drink on the warm?

I always struggle to understand posts from our U.K. brethren. In this case "drink on the warm," is a phrase that doesn't fully parse. In these instances I turn to AI to help shine meaning and understanding into the world. Here is what AI thinks is going on from this post:

If this is what you're after @Webbo, I recommend Fermi's nuclear pile in the old Stagg field.

Iwan Ries or Up Down Cigar Shop. Biggs mansion is supposed to be good too. As far as I remember all three are ByOB.

Quick note that I live outside Chicago and haven’t been there in a couple years so this may be outdated.

Jack Schwartz Importer has an excellent selection of (NC) cigars; and if memory serves well, there is a bar for soft and hard drinks with your cigar. A small (and hard to find) place, but friendly and knowledgeable shop.

I’ll let others recommend local lounges since I live in the burbs. I can confirm though that any establishment that allows indoor smoking will be BYOB.

Jack Schwartz is a good option. So is Up Down Cigar.

Jack Schwartz is in the loop in the CBOT building where LaSalle ends. Up Down is on Wells just south of North Ave. Depending on where you’re staying, I’d go to one of these.
