Popular Post JoeyBones777 Posted July 22, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 22, 2024 After the abysmal Monte 2 performance, I wanted something I knew would perform well. There are very few brands that I am confident in the performance of every cigar I pick up. Padron, Oscar Valladares and Fabrica 5. I have a 99% success rate with them, which isn't true of other great cigar makers out there and certainly not true of CC. The flavors start a bit on the milder side of fruit, earth and leather. As the cigar progresses so does the body, working its way up to medium, maybe even medium plus. The flavors get fuller as well but all the same with a touch of sourdough that mixes with the dried fruit sweetness. Draw and burn are phenomenal as expected. I think additional time down will work wonders on these. Again, I'm playing around with a different rating system. I'm giving this cigar a 73 which is bundle/box worthy. The new rating system I'm playing around with: 50 - average 50-60 above average (single worthy) 60-70 very good (5 pack worthy) 70-80 excellent (bundle/box worthy) 80-90 instant favorite (humidor mainstay) 90-100 unicorn (take all my money, please) It's a work in progress.🤷♂️ 6
Bagman Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Kudos to your rating system. Everyone else rates 95% of their cigars in the 88 to 93 range. So dumb. 1

I wish I could take credit for it but, I was in the typical rating camp myself. It was Developing Palates that got me thinking differently about my rating system. Mine isn't exactly like theirs but the idea of 50 (5 for them) being average level makes a lot of sense. Most cigars should land between 40 and 60.
