Popular Post ayedfy Posted February 22, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 22, 2024 Romeo y Julieta Petit Churchill. 50x4”. RAP JUN 22 (a 24:24 score). Opening third: butterscotch & vanilla wafer biscuits jump out from the first few puffs. A deep, rich plum sauce flavour quickly develops, complemented by a sweet woodiness which reminds me of opening a bag of apple wood chunks. Lovely dessert flavour profile, light bodied at first but shifting up to medium-full quickly. Slightly firm draw, burning a little uneven but in charity I’m blaming the wind rather than the cigar. Middle third: RyJ cherry time. Much like the plum sauce note from the beginning, it’s a very luscious cherry here, think stewed dark/sweet cherries. Body through the middle drops a notch below medium, alongside a slight loss of complexity. There is an odd earthy note à la fresh soil that pokes its head up every couple of draws that, while not being off-putting, feels incongruent with everything else happening. Final third: a sweet toasted wood moving forward now - we’ve started lighting some of those apple wood chunks. Body lifts again to an even medium and the dessert cherries which had faded through the middle are reinvigorated. Touch of spearmint coming through - sounds weird but it works. Finishes on a clear note of fresh honey. This is my third out of the box, they’ve all been pretty consistent and enjoyable smokes. If that middle third held up to the preceding and succeeding sections this would be 90+ all day. 89/100 I hate photos, but my eldest had to sit for her school photos today so I wouldn’t be setting a good example if I wussed out myself. Here’s the mug. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 6
