Arturo Fuente Rare Pink Signature Dec 2023 (FEBW1)

Admittedly never been a huge fan of Fuentes outside the Opus Angels Share, but when my local liquor store had a box of these I had to grab a few.

Not as snug of an initial draw as I’ve gotten with a lot of Perfectos, so already starting out ahead in my book. Opening notes could be best described as aged (kind of musty) tobacco with an absolutely overpowering dark earth. Thankfully this earth note fell to the background fairly quickly and was joined by a dark roast black coffee and some spicy oak.

Towards the middle of the stick the earth and coffee were pretty much equal and joined by what could probably best be described as walnut or maybe Brazil nut. These rounded out together coming into the final third pretty much equal with each other and the coffee note transforming to a burnt-popcorn flavor, but not at all in a bad way.

Overall not a bad stick, I’m glad I have a few extras stashed away to see if they change over time. But at the end of the day, not my preferred profile, so I’d give it a C/C+.

Nice review! I’ve smoked a couple of these, the signature and the short story. Was expecting to be underwhelmed but wasn’t. Enjoyed the signature more, but considered both sizes to be enjoyable albeit pricey smokes

Yeah I’m definitely glad I got them for around MSRP which is like $17-18 around here I think. Was in no way an offensive or bad stick, just not my jam. I bet if I switched up my pairing to coffee from Dr Pepper it would help.
