Popular Post djrey Posted November 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 20, 2023 Pulled this cigar out for a Beautiful fall day. The cigar itself if kind of an ugly duckling. Veiny wrapper, a bit dry and dusty looking and some green spots. Construction is good. Paired this one with an espresso. Starts out on the lighter side of medium. Grass/hay notes with a slight touch of pepper. Draw is perfect. I do not have much experience with the No 4 but this box has overall been nice. A bit of chocolate that is often discussed comes into play in the last half, however this stick is primarily the aforementioned grass, hay with some pepper. These notes get more intense as the cigar goes on. Touch of sweetness throughout which is nice. Enjoying that this is not becoming bitter, which sometimes happens to me with the grass dominated smoke. It's good overall and quite a different profile than my usual smokes. A nice smoke all in all. 89 pts. 6
Mr. Esposito Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 I have a JUN-19 ASU box I bought a few months ago that hasn't quite come into favorable status yet. Not sure if it ever will after 3.5 years. Putting it back in long term storage and forgetting about them for a while.

I got this box back in 2020 and I smoked one within a month or so of receiving them and they literally tasted like cardboard - very little flavor. I was really disappointed. Waited a year and there was a big shift in flavor. Yours may just be off from traveling/prior storage conditions.
MrBirdman Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Monte 4’s are hit and miss even by CC standards. At $200 a box that wasn’t a big deal, but with today’s prices they’re getting harder to justify. 4
MagicalBikeRide Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Yup. Agree with above. The nudie PC has become a reasonable alternative for me. Cheaper and more consistent - but I do miss the thought that, just every so often, one will surprise me and be a complete knock out. I got this with M4’s every so often but don’t think the experience will ever be replicated with the nudie PC.

That's a hard pass for myself. $340 will buy a box of 1964 Padron 42 gauge that will outshine any box of Monte 4. 1
