AbasCigar Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 Hello everyone, Would it be possible to estimate the ages of these cigars based on the tubes/ names/ bands? If you zoom in on the Bolivar, why does it have these shiny "spots"/crystals? Thank you! 3
BrightonCorgi Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 20+ years looking at the tubes and bands. 1 1
Popular Post Ford2112 Posted June 23, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 23, 2023 I'm going to need to smoke them to make a proper assessment 🤔 😅 1 8
NSXCIGAR Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 The Boli is from at least 2002 and the Punch Monarcas and LS Selectos were discontinued in 2002. The Monte is no newer than 2003. The RyJ looks like the machine-made version of the Romeos which would also put it no newer than 2002. 1
ha_banos Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 You can jump on cubancigarwebsite.com and check out when the bands and tubes were last used. The Los statos could be 70's. 1
cigcars Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 *They look to be from the late to mid '80's, especially the Los Statos Deluxe, I'm afraid long discontinued. And the Punch in the blue tube also looks like it could be from that period. Enjoy - those are good looking aged beauties! 1

The others could technically be as old as 1962, although despite the colors on the tubes being unchanged from 62-02 the color and font on these are fairly bold. The older tubes from the 70s-80s I've seen tend to be a bit more faded and lighter leading me to think these are more recent. 1
AbasCigar Posted June 24, 2023 Author Posted June 24, 2023 I'm amazed how much knowledge there is in this community. Amazing. I got these with many other vintage habanos years ago. Unfortunately I've lost the info about these particular ones. I've tried asking the one I got them from and he promised to see if he can find the conversation we had 5 years ago. He have several batches from several of them but he was 100% sure that the Bolivar is from 2003 and the montecristo especial from 1986. 1

The RyJ, Punch and LSdL were all discontinued in 2002 and I don't believe any were made in 2003 however they would surely have still been available for purchase in 2003 particularly as singles in most cigar shops. In fact I was buying boxes of LSdL Brevas well into 2003 for around $28. Great cigars and now very hard to find. 1
