I think the 4% CITY income tax, on top of some of the highest state income taxes in the country has been punishing the wealthy white guy in this area for decades. I have a lot of family that lives in this area and some of the laws are just insane. I love to visit and I LOVE to leave.

I do a lot of work in NYC, but live in PA for this very reason.

Anyway, if you're living in NYC you got much bigger problems to worry about.  I hate to say it, but I fear NY is going down hill fast.  I know it is hard to imagine, but Detroit was the wealthiest city in the world in the 50s and 60s yet now ... so it is not an impossibility.

All the better for Miami, which I think will be the next major hub in the USA.  Austin and Nashville are growing too but just dont have access to the ocean to compete.

In fairness, the cigar tax in Utah is 86% and that place is deep red.

That said, I lived in New York once and am happy to take the legal career hit of never returning because I can’t stand it. Although it has less to do with the taxes and more with how the city has be sterilized of most of its character in favor of being a playground for the ultra-rich.

I guess it’s better than banning them. It’ll make it harder to afford for the jr. high kids that we’ve been told are buying them 😂

It's making my Atabey black market sales to high school kids a lucrative endeavor

All the "wealthy white guys" no longer live in the failed empire state of New York. They are all happy Florida residents now, where cigars are still cheap. Take that mean 'ol Kathy Hocul !!🤣

Insanity. Florida is still a haven for cigar smokers and Desantis has gone out of his way to protect the culture. People can make dickish cartoons about the state all day, I wear it like a badge of honor.

I moved from NYC to Miami 12 years ago, now live a couple of hours north of Miami. It may have had more to do with a latin woman than taxes but it was a no-brainer trade.

I’m no fan, but I can’t find anything that sais hocul will do this. She’s currently pushing a new cig tax but cigars are left out. It was proposed almost a year ago and got no traction. The State already has a 75% tax on cigars. Tucker did a thing on this 3days ago though and this guy is literally just repeating it. This story is largely bullshit meant to stir people up.

I'm also an ex NYer for many reasons. One of the biggest tax and spend leftist states in the country. I can just sit here on the beach in South Carolina, light up a no taxed cigar with a glass of single malt Scotch and live, laugh, and enjoy retirement. 😇

I’m with you brother, you can’t smoke cigs on the beach in Florida any longer but you can damn sure smoke a cigar.
