I remember these.  They seemed to have sat at most retailers. Pretty cool idea.

I assume the bottle has a bottom hollow into which the cigar is sealed; cigar comes out of the bottom, bottle opens from the top cork

Yep. If I recall correctly the Opus had been cognac dipped as well.
