I think this has to be the book to have as my Christmas present this year.

For who does not know Didier Houvenagel he  is first of all a cigar passionate then a master in cigars. He has lived and studied many years in Pinar del Rio and has developed cigars with tobacco from other countries with great success.

Below are his words on the book:

THE CIGAR, FROM SOIL TO SOUL is  318 pages in 2 hard-cover volumes of 11 chapters, and with more than 100 drawings. It is the result of nearly 20 years of work and thoughts, including, lately, 2 years of nearly full-time work.  This book is also the outcome of a collaboration with fantastic copy-editor, layout artist, painters, and printers.

Books will be available from December but you can purchase them EN PRIMEUR for some  weeks  .

See www.editionsdumyosotis.com or www.cigarthinker.com .

Full prices are 150EUR for the Black edition and 400EUR for the Limited Bamboo edition

If interested, contact Didier for receiving a dedicated promocode for bulk purchase.

I'm personally very curious for the  the Limited Bamboo edition ( does it remember any of you on another book that we are all waiting ? )

MrJapan,

I mistakenly gave Nino all of the credit for introducing us to this upcoming book in a post in the Daily Smoke today.  THANK YOU for raising it to all of our attention.  I did order the book, and am eagerly awaiting its issuance.   Thanks again, and all the best, -Cliff (Glass Half Full :)

Cliff,

it's not a problem at all. We both know Didier well so we just help a friend out to promote his book.

Is anyone aware of how the book can be purchased now? Doesn't seem like there are any live links on the site. I am late to the party.

I think they're a bit behind schedule. Mine was an advanced copy, which was ready to ship towards the end of February. They were expecting general sales towards mid-February. My guess it everything got pushed back a few months.

Here's the latest email I got from the author:

My very dear EN PRIMEURs!

Some news about the latest developments!

FINALLY!!! We could start shipping the EN PRIMEUR books last week. Some of you already received it/them. All the rest of books will be sent early next week, and therefore most probably be delivered within the week!

As you may know I also had the pleasure to deliver some books personally. I even could do two first presentations, one very private in Germany and one more public in Switzerland. I nevertheless wanted to remain low-profile on those communications/promotions as delivering all the EN PRIMEUR books is for me a priority before really starting any public promotion.

For the remaining books to be delivered, you will receive systemic messages from both Myosotis and DHL for the completion of your EN PRIMEUR order and tracking of the book arrival.

After the last EN PRIMEUR books are delivered, I will also re-open the public sales on the website www.editionsdumyosotis.com.

Apologies for not having been able to send ALL the EN PRIMEUR books at the same time, it has been a real struggle. We are nearly out of it and all of us will be able to enjoy browsing through the pages of the book, reading some new cigar contents, and enjoying the wonderful drawings.

Thanks again for having been great supports in the finalisation of the challenging project.

Hoping to see you very soon, in the Americas, in Asia or in Europe. Or else.
Have a great weekend.

Didier

I received mine yesterday in NY from the En Primeur lot. Can’t wait to give it its due. The quality of the printing and the binding is very beautiful. Starting to wish I got a scratch and dent copy…I don’t want to open it anywhere near my kids lest they get their child grime on it!

Mine is stuck in NY customs with DHL...they've emailed me 4 separate times asking if it's cigars. My last email response was:

"THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS A BOOK. A BIG OLE' HARDBOUND BOOK ABOUT CIGARS. IT WILL NOT HURT ANYONE."

tell us sir, are these 'book' cigars Cuban or not Cuban?  :fuel:
