99call Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 So as @El Presidente has rightly said. Any distributor is taking their life in their hands, if they decide to 'go left-field' with a regional cigar. There simply has to be a decent audience out there for the product, otherwise it's just madness. But has the market changed in the last few years? the La Reina sold well, vintage skinnies are selling well. A size that I have long thought to be the 'ultimate format' for longterm ageing, is the double figurado skinny. whether called 'Fancy Tales' 'Panatelas Salomones" "Girafes" "Flechas" etc etc A 38RG cabeza tombada leading to a 44RG bulb, pointed sealed tip, Double yellow ribbon, simple branded SLB box.....surely got to be a winner?.......no? A two part simple question: A, Will we ever see them again? B, If 'NO'....... why not? 3
smbauerllc Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Never really been a fan of the figarado.I have no idea why really, as I haven't had any more problems with them than any other vitolas that I can recall. I do make an exception for the Arturo Fuente Hemmingway line and the Cuaba Exclusivos though. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk 1 1

Sorry I should have specifically said CC cigars only. I'm sure with the vast variety the NC market offers, that skinny double figurado is already offered. The Cuaba Exclusivo is recognised as a 'perfecto', which is sort of outside of the format i'm talking about.

Always thought that the Cuabas were listed as a figarado.Could be remembering wrong or possibly my vendor just lists them as a figarado instead of a perfecto.Learn something new on my forums every day. Either tapered at one end, or tapered at both (a double figurado). A Cuaba Exclusivo. is both a double figurado and a perfecto...........but it is not a 'skinny' which is the core point of the question I will soon be corrected by better FOH than I

These are all facts which I also have a very loose grip on. The love of cigars is a wonderful passion, we are all, always learning, and you just watch, someone will pop up and correct me.
El Presidente Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 A, Will we ever see them again? I think they would be perfect for a special humidor of say 100. Puting out 250 - 500 humidors of Panetelas Salomones would be a winner and nice reintroduction of the format. Will it happen? probably not. B, If 'NO'....... why not? Cost. They are a difficult format to roll with little price premium upside. Same cost but more upside for HSA would be a Flying Pig/similar in an Upmann/ Ramon Allones. Distributors wouldn't likely be interested in pumping out 75000 Panetelas Salomones. To start with the production cost would be significanty more than a Montesco 2

Currently ways of creating 'rarity' are - numbers within the release - packaging - area of restricted distribution. I think Italy has weirdly benefited from this - is it made at El Laguito? I agree with you, it's unlikely we will see them at any point soon, but I do think we will see them. Once every other easier card to play has been dealt, they will emerge. I just hope I'm still alive

I guess my core thought was, that I think skinnies age extremely well, but I think the addition of a closed foot, might give them them that extra protection from falling off the cliff too early
NSXCIGAR Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 We're lucky HSA has been in a Tacos and Britanicas mood lately. That's about all we're going to get I'm afraid.
