Popular Post Ken Gargett Posted May 27, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 27, 2021 Partagas Lusitania (TEB May 08) – Isla del Tesoro Rum It is not easy to be grumpy down on the northern NSW coast – such a beautiful place. Family has been coming here since before I was born. Fishing was far better then, but where was it not? I try and get up and do the dawn beach walk each morning (lot of rain coming later in the week so there might be a sleep-in). Exquisite this morning. But there is always someone who’ll throw a Spaniard in the works. Every now and again, the horse brigade turn up – if you think cyclists who believe that road rules are not for them and wobble along, lycra-clad fifty-year-olds, two abreast while traffic piles up behind, are bad, they have nothing on horse people. They really do believe they are above any form of courtesy and rules. Their horses crap all over the beach, usually to their amusement. This was such a morning. Then there are the dog walkers. Most of the dogs are great – far better than their owners – but every so often... continue to full article. 14
MoeFOH Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 I think this is my favourite Kenfessions yet. That Lusi looked absolutely gorgeous... glad it smoked the same way. And a great balance of images and ranting... oh, and the review stuff.
Ken Gargett Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 ta guys. always fun. if occasionally a touch rehashed.
Chucko8 Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Great read thanks Ken. Must confess I harbor no love for dog slobber neither.
Meesterjojo Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 I'm still not sure why the horse crap isn't thrown at the riders? Do they require dog owners to pick up the crap of their dogs? Why wouldn't this apply to horses? Dog feces is the #3 cause of water contamination in the US. Anyway, yeah, I got heated reading about horse apples. We've a lot of these types here. They take up the whole road and won't budge so you can go around. Can't wait to finish building and be further away from it all. Nice bit about the rum, too;)
Huckleberry Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Fantastic read! Yep horse types think their animals can shit anywhere they want. I mean if they are on a horse trail so be it, but a beach? For obvious reasons I am guessing you don't crap on their beach do you? I really enjoy your perspective and descriptive writing. It is like I am right there with you through it all. Thanks!
CaptainQuintero Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Brill read as always Ken. Did you ever get to share the Tesoro with Hamlet when he came over?

LLC Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Great read. I have some TEB OCT 09 RA Grandes (RE Spain) that have been outstanding. TEB is something I’d take anything I could get my hands on.

Man D'olin Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Thanks for the portrait of a great day and thanks for the tip aboout the espionage novelist- Kanon. Ordered the book. Been lamenting the demise of the late John LeCarre, so I am rereading a Jack Vance novel from the 70's.( A great sci-fi writer, who is not so widely known). Last weekend I got a peak Southern California, cigar/ocean experience- a short hike to the bluffs on the coast above Santa Barbara, and thoughly enjoyed a Monte Petit Edmundo, while my gal savored a Trini Reyes- the libations came later...some Cental Coast Pinot, if I remember rightly. A good Cuban in the face of the offshore breeze-nothing like it.
