Received 2 boxes back in sept. So far tried 2 and they just had no flavor and then got bitter. What is good down time for punch 48?  Anyone experiencing same?

I have a box of LGR FEB 19 that I am half way through and they’ve all been very good. Peanut bombs for sure. I’m not sure those 7 months make much of a difference but hopefully yours come around. I have two boxes of RAT NOV 19, I’ll try to have one in the next week from one of those boxes and report back.

That’s what I was hoping for in flavor. Be interested to hear your report   Thanks!

I have the exact same box code and date.  I felt it was a bit rough tasting, flavors were muddled, and underfilled.  I was expecting more for what these cost.  Disclaimer I don’t regularly smoke Punch.

In the interest of science, I pulled one of the RAT NOV 19’s to try. I will say I picked the ugliest in the box. Construction was very good. Started out with cream and spice, no real peanut like the LGR box but it seemed to start off well. It then became more earthy which can be considered bland by some. It transitioned briefly to more of a straight pepper and then the final third was back to being earthy with an underlying spice.

Final thought were the type of transitions it had don’t really lend themselves to a really enjoyable cigar. Definitely not like the LGR box where 5 out of 5 have been very good and as mentioned, peanut bombs.

What I have taken from this is to move my 5 remaining LGR 48’s to long term aging and hope these RAT code 48’s improve with time.

This was my first time I had one that wasn’t great. Time will tell if the RAT box comes around but I’d definitely buy again in the future for one with a different box code.

Talk about a thread making me not want to buy a cigar...
Yeah, for sure.
I have been wanting to try a couple now that I have found a couple places selling them as singles but both are often out of stock, so haven't been able to try one yet.

I enjoy the Punch-Punch and petit Coronations, so that's what makes me want to try the 48.

This thread makes me a little leery though

I've had a couple 48s in 2019. Wasn't blown away, but that might have been due to early release jitters. I'd certainly be willing to revisit but every opinion I read is very mixed and consistently so. I have yet to come across a real glowing review which makes me think the ceiling on these is very low. They seem to top out at "good to very good" and at the price and for an LCDH release that's just not going to cut it for me. It's a shame because I love the Hermosos No. 3 size and would like to have another good Punch model in the lineup. But this one just seems like a wayward child.

Agreed. Nothing like the Punch Punch and thank goodness it's nothing like the Coronations...:covermouth:

That's a good thing. I wouldn't want to end up with a smoke that tastes the same and only differs in size
