Popular Post Kaptain Karl Posted October 31, 2020 Popular Post Posted October 31, 2020 This is my mr consistent because every one out of this box has been outstanding to spectacular. This was the first in the spectacular range. The first third started with an onslaught of orange, cake, and cream. Slight toasted tobacco. Light strength, medium full flavor and body. Absolute perfection. It’s an orange creamsicle. In the 2/3 a delectable butteriness takes over. I have not quite had a butter flavor like this before, but hot damn give me some more of that!! Then some gingerbread comes into the fray. It’s like a back to back to back greatest hits of full lip smacking flavor. I had a PSP ESL ABR 19 mag 50 yesterday that was great, but was just very light. This has the same gentleness as the mag 50, but the flavor turned up by 100% The last third blends the flavors of the first third. Draw, construction and smoke output were all exemplary. This was a 96 point cigar. The best of the year for me. I know QdO got some special tobacco in 2018 with the rebranding, so I can only hope the 2020 offerings come near the complexity, flavors and flavor intensity of this cigar. 15
rcarlson Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Gotta rethink these based on this. So far, QDO has been a let down for me.

I’ve only had the Coronas so I can’t speak to the 50 or 54. These were phenomenal 5 months after the box code so I may have gotten one of those special boxes. 2
vhampl03 Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Great review....haven’t tried any QDs but sounds like might be worth exploring. Good looking dog....my spaniel likes to sit with me in nice weather (although too cold now). What kind is she?
leafdream54 Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Great review - I've got a box of MSU OCT 18 that's going to be cracked in the coming days, as a result of this review...can't wait any longer! 1
RDB Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Yep, I have an MSU OCT 18 box and they have all been really good to excellent, and smoking well. So far my QdO preference is coronas > 50 > 54. I have some great looking 54s from ASR FEB 19 but they are much less complex than the coronas. ad the 50s I have had are a bit fuller. By the way is that a Doberman puppy? If so I am envious. 1

He’s a miniature dachshund actually! He’s 3 years old. He thinks he’s a Doberman until an actual big dog comes up to him ?

I would concur that against all well placed fears, the new blend Coronas Claro are wonderful. For me I prefer the old blend. some how more reserved. creamy porridge like opulence, with layers of aromatic cedar, anise and old world hoyo charm.....Yes the old band blend was a high water mark. they were better than any Cohiba I've ever had. All that said they were not better than old band Fundies, and there is a vast array of 2019 tobacco that is setting a very high bar. All hero's are there to be knocked off the perch and surpassed. The MSU Coronas Claro are a great deal more expressive of orange rind as @Kaptain Karl well pointed out. Someone mentioned BBQ sauce in relation to JL1's a while back and I thought that was a brilliant pick. For me a great BBQ sauce will have an orange peel and fennel seed sort of balance. The new QDOCC has that distinct orange peel, and the body is a notch up. They are not as classy at the old band stock, But they maybe more straightforwardly enjoyable. I would argue the old band CC's are a cigar that you may want to smoke indoors, they are creamsicles, opulent, but quite soft and restrained. With the new cigars you don't have to worry, there is flavour everywhere The new blend is, in your face sweet, flavourful, and undoubtedly excellent. On balance I prefer 2015-2016 stock, but good lord these new cigars are good, and they put 2000-2012 QDO cigars in a rather large shadow. 1
prshah25 Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 These were not on my radar.. Now you have convinced me to get a box ?
Kayslay Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Finding them is the problem! I gotta find a box! 1

oneizzzz Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 @Kaptain Karl I'm very excited to read your review!!! I recently ordered some ERDM Choix Supreme from an online vendor. A few weeks later... and a box of Quai d'Orsay Coronas Claro MSU DIC 18 shows up at my door. The two Quai d'Orsay Coronas I've smoked from my TUA SEP 21 box have been so delicious that they've catapulted themselves into my top 5 cigars. So for me it was a happy mistake! Anyway, figured I'd throw out a search over here on FOH for any intel on this box code and your review popped up! Now I really can't wait to try one!!! 3
zeebra Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Agree. The QdO CC I've had, 2 out of my box so far have been fantastic! I'm so glad to have found a box balbeeck > corona claros > 50 > 54 I have had the 2019 LE, 1 of those, rott, and it needs a few years I think, at least 3. So I'll give that a proper placement once it has some age 1
oneizzzz Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Never had a Baalbeck, but I've heard they're damn tasty...

I would do some unspeakable things to get my hands on another box of those 18's!!! The 2020's I have I think we'll be extremely good, they clearly need some more time though. The 2018's were phenomenal 6 months from the box date! 2
